Lil’ Faces of Sinulog ‘08

Posted by sandman

Typically most headlines and blogs posted today were about this special event called Sinulog it’s one of the grandest and most colorful festivals in the Philippines. The main festival is held each year on the third Sunday of January in Cebu City to honor the Santo Niño, or the holy child Jesus. I lived away from Cebu but most city and municipalities around the Philippines also celebrates this event, which comes to the minds of the writers to cover this event and along with it where pictures, While they were busy doing their own business I notice something particular that other people just simply ignore yet they always carry it around, the Niño beyond the festival.

Here are some of the pictures i took before, during and after the festivities.

Cocos and The Sea Turtle

Posted by sandman

While taking a walk on a late afternoon at the market place after a lunch a group of people clustering caught my attention wondering what so busy about, I approach them, a guy in the middle of the crowd sitting on a wooden stool with necklace from carved coconut shell was lecturing on them.

This guy by the way was selling quack medicines which he said he got from Capiz.(Capiz is the province of the Philippines located in the region of Western Visayas and rumored to be a place of witches). In the middle of his items was a preserved sea turtle lying in the coconut.

People nowadays still believe this kind of stuff in these modern times due to poverty maybe this guy also is a believer of this kind of things and some of his explanations are going strange to bizarre, like one instance, what’s with the coconuts? he uses coconut oil for liniments simple as that and he added a chopped roots of herbal plants found in a unnatural surroundings like root of physic nut (Jatropha curcas) unrooted during a full moon at midnight or the extract of the red cacao (theobroma cacao)(remembering cacao days, chocolates and more…) and the Sea Turtle? Maybe because of it’s longetivity characteristics. I think he got that from Chinese origins on eating exotic animals for extra long life and aphrodisiacs. And one thing before I forgot have you heard of the urban legend of the turtle’s genitals? (when a philandering husband meets his mistress and the wife of that certain guy inserted the genitals of the sea turtle along the dress he wore, when he and the mistress do intercourse the guy cannot pull his penis out from his mistress’ vagina for a month. I guess its because sea turtles takes a long time to have intercourse when they mate …ahhemm sorry for the harsh words) well, this guy seem to tell the story over and over again, He seem not to bother if you believe him or not as long as he can sell his famous products.

Picture Semi-perfect Life

Posted by sandman

My life isn’t as wonderful as compared to others but i enjoyed every single moment that passes, I love taking pictures of thing s that interest me. So I try capturing my life with the only tool I got, my Motorola L7.
Try to look at my simple and semi-perfect life with this photos I took:

To Start with meet Some pets i have at home

Cassandra My cute Doggy

This rooster is called a Bantam people raised this for recreation, we raise this for dinner
quite tasty too… try it sometime.

I took this picture at our place, its a Sun not the moon

and its one, It looked like a wallpaper

while the sky is blue and clear, look at the ground or of what it used to be.
taken during the flood at our place just outside our gates.

I took this when i went home early, Early in the morning the road is a bit blurry
maybe its because of the alcohol i drank all night.

My mom’s Home cook meal, its sure fresh and delicious.

And this is what i cooked i called this “beef loaf and egg omelet ala kwenta”
I did fail sometimes always in cooking.(frying is an exception).

And one of my favorite Crispy Chicken.

Well I think it adds it all up that i love eating more than cooking, I tried cooking every now and then especially when I’m hungry(LOL).

Kristin Kreuk Smallville Girl

Posted by sandman

Now on its season seven wow for seven years I’ve seen all their episodes i remember it was 2001 when they aired it on studio23…(just being nostalgic) the plot of the story is about young superman growing up in his home town smallville that kind of stories was never told before in some superman stories but theres a bit of twist on it….. like for example mmmmm….. it happend in the present day scenario where u can find notebooks… and no more phone booths to change outfits hehehe phone booths are history since cellphones are around, maybe a closet will do…
and also his best friend lex luthur,Chloe Sullivan and her first girlfriend Lana Lang.

She is a Teen Choice Awardee of 2004 and 2006 Asian Excellence Awards Seen her in the movies like Partition,EuroTrip,Snow White, EarthSea but the best place is on Smallville in my opinion she is the real weakness of Kal-El - Clark Kent she can manipulate every guy she meet even the master of Bad things (Lex Luthur) have no match for her beauty and revenge as a master plan. According to her Biography in http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0471036/bio She was born on December 30, 1982, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. She attended and graduated from Eric Hamber High School. Although she did some stage work in school, she focused more on her studies. She described herself as shy and boring.

For her first professional work, she went to an open casting audition for Edgemont, a teen-drama series aired on CBC television in Canada. She plays the role of Laurel Yeung. Laurel was the last main character to be cast because the casting director was having a problem finding an actress. Fortunately for them (and us), they found Kristin just in time.

Her career was set to take off when she landed on the highly acclaimed WB television series, “Smallville” (2001). It follows the story of Clark Kent in his pre-Superman days in a small town of Smallville, Kansas. Kristin plays the role of Lana Lang, Clark Kent’s object of desire before he meets Lois Lane.

“Smallville” (2001) proved to be a giant step for Kristin’s acting career, as she landed several interviews with several magazines, including YM (Your Magazine) and Rolling Stone. She also did a commercial for Neutrogena, popular for its skin care products.

Marawer Mountain Park… a little escape… a BIG HOPE…

Posted by sandman

As one of the newly discovered attractions in Mt. Apo, Digos City, Marawer Mountain Park offers the cultural and environmental traveler a breadth and depth of experience that stands unparalleled even by its neighboring mountains.

With its spectacular natural environment and quite easy accessibility, it’s a little perfect getaway for anybody… brace yourself as you let its local culture sink in wherever you go… there’s always something goin’ on somewhere… around…

Follow the land pathways to find a number of uniquely beautiful spots, each designed to ensure that all your wish to see are almost there, providing you with quite an endless variety of opportunities to relax, rejuvenate, and enjoy yourself.

From the verdant trees to the dramatic cascading waterfall, the park invites you to discover it more to all its breathtaking panoramic views, all featuring naturefront and hallmark settings.

With such distinctive hideaway nestled in the park, the trees in row set amid the lush beauty of the mountain, overlooking vibrant stretches of its exclusive river oasis

Locally-sophisticated hanging bamboo bridge that thrills everyone crossing it, silently connects the school area to the ascending mountain…

Gumamelas and orchids inspire obsession. Grown are few of these. The spectacular beauty and scentless scents are unmatched. Remarkably hardy in different seasons of dry and wet, they have interesting foliage and a marvelous range of forms and colors. Their size is part of their charisma with shrublike perennials that raise full, blowsy heads of silky red and salmon. The Mahogany trees are a breathtaking sight, thriving in the company of other trees as G-melina and Cabo Negro.

So, if you really want to relax and escape, you better hop to it and hope… take a few moments to get to the heart of the park. The key to a healthy and satisfying getaway is simply going there.

This attraction has just started simply enough… but for DepEd Digos City division, there is never, never enough… there is hope… a big hope to show the miracle of growth and survival of nature… of wildlife… and of man…

Time is a great friend to Marawer Mountain Park in improving and preserving its lushness and beauty as it ages.

Mr. Alfonso G.Gomez,Jr. the Schools Division Superintendent in his stewardship lines sincerely challenged everyone…
“Together let’s kindle the spark of hope for Mother Nature. I am happy that the Department of Education, this division has begun responding to this global challenge in the preservation of the environment, particularly here in sitio Marawer. I believe that no matter how much time, money, energy, and other resources one has invested in the cause of preservation and management of this Marawer ecosystem, it will always give back much more for the beauty and bounty of the earth, for the people… for you… and for your children’s children” …

MARAWER MOUNTAIN PARK… a little escape… a big hope from HIM…

James Blunt new Album

Posted by sandman

Who is James Blunt?

James Blunt’s family have served in one kind of army or another since 995A.D. A long line of warriors. Savages really. Not a musical bone in any one of their bodies. The only music he heard growing up was “Happy Birthday” and “Silent Night”. His father considered all music, even classical, to be unnecessary noise. Although James was not one to rock the family boat, he didn’t really think he was going to join the army – it sort of crept up on him. Plus his family didn’t have a boat. Aged fourteen he just held the teenage conviction that he would have an interesting life – maybe that’s why he picked the guitar? Then again, maybe if he hadn’t, he would have tripped over it. He went to University and studied Aerospace Manufacturing Engineering and Sociology, spending most lectures asleep on the floor at the back. In much the same way, he ended up in the army. In essence, one day he was sleeping off a hangover at the back of a sociology lecture hall and the next thing he knew he was in Kosovo with a gun and a guitar strapped to the side of a tank, wondering who he could possibly sleep with to get out of this war. To break up the super attenuated monotony, James would sometimes stroll through Serb villages wearing an East German cap singing, “All we are saying is give peace a chance”. “We were peace-keepers at that point,” he explained, shrugging helplessly.

His new album “All The Lost Souls
